i was bipolar disorder 2 without medication , then recently i doignosed serve depression and psychosis is that a sign of devlped disorder

Yes, it can. All that is required for the upgraded diagnosis (so to speak) is an actual manic episode. Hypomania can progress to mania. The difference in the two is the severity. Hypomania does not typically include psychotic symptoms and is not as disruptive to a person's life….not the way mania is…the latter often requires hospitalization to get under control while keeping every body safe. Bipolar depression has a tendency to be very severe and, at least in BP II, very persistent.

If you have bipolar disorder or any kind and want to have any sort of normal life, medication is an absolute must. And this means taking it properly every single day. It requires ongoing monitoring of your condition and most likely frequent med adjustments. I'm not going to sugar coat it…it sucks to need medication to function in a way that resembles "normal". But, BP is something that can be managed with proper treatment and doesn't have to dictate your whole life.

its been 3 years since i've been diagnosed with bi-polar skitophrenia.. i've been with 3 doctors so far and they all prescribed me with medication. However my lastest doctor prescribed me with medical marijuana and thats what i've been on for the past year. I would like to know how I can recieve money from the government and first steps I shoud take.

Why do you need to receive money from the government? Having a mental disorder does not necessarily qualify for receiving any government assistance. Are you working? There are millions of self-sufficient, hard working Americans who are diagnosed with mental disorders, take medication, and do not receive money from the government. Please provide us with additional details. Thank you.

I have Bipolar Disorder 1. I have been on many medications, some that worked (but the side effects were to bad to continue). Please help me out with what you take only if it has worked for you. Please NO people that "know" someone with this illness or if you are going to tell me to take natural remedies, don't answer, This is a major life long illness that I KNOW needs medication. Thank you:)

I have bipolar 2 and was but on SSRI (effexor and prozac) to name a couple. THey would swing me into a manic phase, then I tried suicide and was given the anti-psychotic risperdol, only becasue my doctor thought if I was too tired I could hurt myself or anyone else, then I found a new doctor and was given depakote and serozone, now discontinuted…I think cymbalta is a similar drug….

That was the combo that did the trick for me, it was defined as the turning point in my recovery. Also, O fiormly believe in therapy on top of medication, bipolar is a chemical problem, but we need to work on the behaviors, thoughts and patterns that it can bring on….

Best of luck….

I have bipolar disorder and several other mental illnesses. When I go to group therapy there is always one or two people who have quit medication and started taking natural herbalism for cures. In the old days we called this snake oil. You put yourself at risk. First you quit the medication a trained professional prescribed for you cold turkey. This is a lot different then quitting cigarettes cold turkey. This can make you paranoid, suicidal, and possibly homicidal. Herbalism has not shown anyone that it works. It is a way that the company exists, sell things that cost almost nothing for a lot of dollars. This is a salesman's dream. Get it for nothing and sell it for plenty.

Never would I give up my conventional medication for snake oil. Even if I was told that the medication I was on was addictive. If it worked then I would be on it the rest of my life anyway. If it didn't work we would be able to find out fast enough and be able to ween me off it.

My daughter goes from being a sweet little angel to throwing tantrums lasting 2 hours or more at a time. She does everything from trying to make herself throw up to screaming and crying, to throwing herself up against or kicking the doors/walls. The fits are always triggered by something like telling her to clean her room or telling her to wait a couple of minutes for some hot chocolate. They are getting worse day by day. She has also had sleeping problems for about a month or so now. Her behavior at prek is fine.at her dads house on the weekends they say she isn't that bad, she sometimes whines when she doesn't get her way but for the most part she is pleasant. At my house it seems like life is just one big tantrum. In the end I have to shut myself in the bedroom and cry because there is just nothing else I know to do.I asked her if she wants to live with dad and she said no. she is seeing a therapist fri. so I wondering should I ask about pediatric bipolar disorder??
I was looking up different behavior problems in kids and came across this site http://www.bpkids.org/site/PageServer?pagename=lrn_about and it says the symptoms are:an expansive or irritable mood
extreme sadness or lack of interest in play
rapidly changing moods lasting a few hours to a few days
explosive, lengthy, and often destructive rages
separation anxiety
defiance of authority
hyperactivity, agitation, and distractibility
sleeping little or, alternatively, sleeping too much
bed wetting and night terrors
strong and frequent cravings, often for carbohydrates and sweets
excessive involvement in multiple projects and activities – most of these fit her… but at the same time I don't want her medicated just because… if she doesn't have a problem I want to find out the reason for the fits and what to do about it. Do you think suggesting bipolar to the therapist will sway their mind and maybe they will diagnose that without doing as much investigation? Please help lol
That is my thing- I don't want to label her or just medicate her if the problem is maybe my parenting or the fact that her father and I are divorced and he lets her do whatever she wants… I want to fix the problem not just get a fast "shut-her-up" solution

Sounds like ADHD to me but that's just my opinion. Doctors don't' usually label a child with bipolar they will just take it as a mood disorder and treat the symptoms. That's what they did with my son. He is ADHD and has a "mood disorder". They don't like to label them until they are older because then they are pretty much stuck with a label and it might not be correct.
